OHCEA Uganda Engages more Deans for One Health Collaborative Action

Prof. William Bazeyo addressing Deans.

OHCEA Uganda Country Office recently organised a pitching meeting for deans in a bid to reach out to more schools at the University. The meeting attracted deans from business studies, statistics, natural sciences, social sciences, gender and women studies, veterinary medicine and public health.

Broadly, the meeting agreed that while the concept of One Health is as old as the medical profession, medicine and related disciplines have instead grown parallel to each other.

OHCEA(One Health Central and Eastern Africa)is working through the OHCEA institutions[1] to develop a work plan of activities for the financial year beginning in November, 2015-November, 2016.

Planning in all the OHCEA countries will be carried out between May-June, 2015. The proposed activities are geared at transforming the current workforce responsible for managing infectious diseases through increased support for training, research and community outreach opportunities for faculty and students.
