One Health Student Club members of Moi University participate in jigger campaign and primary health care activities at Kaptorokwo Primary School

October 2015: The event was graced by Baringo County Director of Health; Dr Gershom Abakalwa, The Area Member of County Assembly;Mr. Kipilitand The County administrator representative Mr. Biwott among other dignitaries. The Sub-County Public Health Officer Mrs. Agnes Chesire and her team had mobilized the area community in advance hence many residents attended.

The area Sub-Chief and the school community lead by the head teacher welcomed us warmly. The guests were then entertained by the pupils who sang and recited poems on health messages includinghand washing, malaria control, general hygiene and sanitation.

Introduction session and speeches followed thereafter. The County Health Director hailed Moi University One Health Club for choosing Baringo County. He also thanked the community for coming out in large numbers and encouraged them to embrace and maintain good hygiene and sanitation so as to keep most of the diseases affecting them at bay. The main activities of the day started immediately after the speeches.

The services that were offered during the day by Moi university One Health Club in partnership with Baringo County and Eldoret Haltons Pharmacy included; hand washing, Jiggers treatment, breast cancer self-examinationtechnique , family planning, blood sugar monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, Body Mass Index, de-worming and health education.
